David Walmsley is editor-in-chief of The Globe and Mail, Canada’s most widely read newspaper, and deputy president of the World Association of Newspapers’ World Editors’ Forum – the leading global community of editors.
He is the creator of the annual World News Day initiative – a global day of education involving more than 500 newsrooms on five continents, explaining the role of journalism and how it can make the world a better place – and co-creator of the Toronto Moral Injury Scale for Journalists, the world’s only psychometric scale for detecting moral injury in journalists. He is the executive producer of the recent documentaries Nike’s Big Bet and Shooting War.
A trustee of the Arthur F Burns Fellowship, he is also a member of the steering committee of the Sir Harold Evans Fellowship. Walmsley continues to investigate the RAF Chinook helicopter crash in Scotland in 1994 that killed all on board; persistence that Harry always supported.
