Carl Bernstein – Sir Harry Evans

Carl Bernstein

Journalist and Author

Carl Bernstein

For 50 years, Carl Bernstein’s books, reporting, and commentary have revealed the inner workings of government, and the hidden stories of Washington and its leaders.

In the early 1970s, Bernstein and Bob Woodward broke the Watergate story for The Washington Post, leading to the resignation of President Richard Nixon and setting a new bar for American investigative reporting. For their work, The Post was awarded the 1973 Pulitzer Prize for public service in journalism. The pair went on to write the bestselling books All the President’s Men and The Final Days, chronicling the end of the Nixon presidency.

Bernstein is the author of six books, including His Holiness: John Paul II and the Hidden History of Our Time and A Woman in Charge: The Life of Hillary Rodham Clinton. His 2022 memoir, Chasing History: A Kid in the Newsroom, became an instant New York Times bestseller and recounts his earliest days in journalism at The Washington Evening Star. He is also an on-air political analyst for CNN.
